What you actually get from Hootsuite Listening
Hootsuite Insights as a separately branded product no longer exists. Hootsuite acquired Talkwalker in April 2024 and has since folded its listening technology into Hootsuite's own platform as a module called Lumen, marketed on the pricing page as Hootsuite Listening. Every Hootsuite plan includes basic brand and competitor monitoring, but the deeper social listening capability (broader source coverage, historical data, real-time trend and sentiment alerts) is reserved for the Enterprise plan, which is sold on a custom-quote basis. Talkwalker itself, the acquired standalone platform, has separately been renamed Lumen by Talkwalker and continues to be sold outside Hootsuite as well. Buyers who want listening specifically must go to Enterprise or evaluate Lumen by Talkwalker directly.
Hootsuite Listening pricing
Hootsuite Listening does not publish a public rate card. Base Hootsuite plans from EUR 99 to EUR 399/user/mo include basic monitoring only; full Listening (Lumen) is Enterprise-only, custom quote.
| Plan | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | EUR 99/user/mo billed annually | Basic brand and competitor monitoring included, not full listening |
| Professional | EUR 199/user/mo billed annually | Everything in Standard, no added listening depth |
| Advanced | EUR 399/user/mo billed annually | Everything in Professional, no added listening depth |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Adds advanced listening (Lumen) across social, digital, and AI sources, plus SSO and compliance controls |

Strengths
- Backed by Talkwalker's (Lumen's) social listening technology and data coverage
- Listening lives inside the same dashboard as publishing, inbox, and analytics for teams already on Hootsuite
- Base plans publish transparent per-user pricing for the rest of the platform
Weaknesses
- The listening feature itself is Enterprise-only, no published price, requires a sales demo
- Hootsuite Insights as a distinct, separately priced product has been discontinued and merged away
- Teams must buy the whole Hootsuite Enterprise plan to get real listening, not listening alone
- Basic monitoring on lower-tier plans is much shallower than dedicated listening tools
Best for
- Large organizations already standardizing on Hootsuite for publishing who need listening bundled in
- Enterprise teams wanting social listening, compliance, and SSO in one contract
Not ideal for
- Small businesses wanting affordable, self-serve listening without an Enterprise contract
- Anyone specifically searching for the old standalone Hootsuite Insights product, which no longer exists
Hootsuite Listening tracks a brand. Reputation damage attaches to a person
Hootsuite Listening is built around an organisational subject, which is the correct design for the job it was built to do, and it does that job.
Reputation damage does not stay organisational. It attaches to named individuals: a founder, an executive, a partner, a practitioner. Those names are searched separately, indexed separately, and increasingly summarised separately by AI assistants, and brand-scoped tooling does not watch them. The entity being harmed and the entity being monitored are not the same entity.
A confident paragraph merging two people reads exactly like a confident paragraph about one.
Name collisions make it worse. Share a name with someone who has a public record and you inherit that record, in the eyes of anyone searching casually and of any system summarising sloppily. Brand monitoring never surfaces it, because your brand was never mentioned. The damage lands on a person the tool was never pointed at.
Where this lands in 2026
Assistants conflate people constantly, and they do it with total fluency, which is what makes it dangerous. A confident paragraph merging two people with the same name reads exactly like a confident paragraph about one, and the only way to find it is to ask the disambiguation question directly.
That is why this review sits on the site of a firm that competes with Hootsuite Listening. The argument is not that Hootsuite Listening is a bad product. Its category was designed against a version of your problem that no longer describes the whole surface. The part it was never built to cover is the part growing fastest.
Listening platforms are built for marketers counting share of voice. Reputation defense needs the opposite: a low-volume, high-consequence alert on the one post that becomes a crisis, including the closed forums general listening tools never index.
Key facts
- Hootsuite acquired Talkwalker in April 2024
- Talkwalker has since been renamed Lumen by Talkwalker and is sold both standalone and inside Hootsuite
- Hootsuite Listening (formerly marketed as Hootsuite Insights) is gated to the Enterprise plan
Hootsuite Listening covers one lane. We cover the surface.
You get sentinel grid monitoring as one protocol inside a measured engagement, not as a standalone subscription. Your exposure is measured first against a Bayesian baseline, then the counter-strike work runs, then your surface stays monitored across search, review platforms, and the AI answer layer.
